The Challenge

A major third-party administrator for workers’ compensation in the Pacific Northwest provides services to the food product, healthcare, manufacturing, electronics, wholesale/retail, construction, trucking, and service industries, as well as government entities, utilities, and school districts. They issue a high volume of claim checks for a large number of clients and were looking for some technical help to streamline their payment workflows and limit operator involvement.

The Solution

The PayPilot system enables this Prelude client to optimally issue and manage workers’ compensation claims payments for their customers, and to perform bank reconciliation and positive pay security processing. They use AutoPilot, Prelude’s unattended processor module, to automatically import payment data, print checks, and produce payment registers for multiple clients throughout the day.

PayPilot provides a data-driven, scalable environment for processing and tracking the lifecycle of all payments. The software seamlessly integrates workers’ compensation claim and remittance detail from diverse sources within one streamlined system. It automatically locates and imports payment data from various originating systems, processes the payments, prints checks using MICR (magnetic ink character recognition) technology on blank safety stock, then exports updated information back to the appropriate departments. Authorized operations staff can access the centralized PayPilot database at any time for queries, reporting, printing file copies, or manual input of payment information.

The Results

One of Prelude’s primary goals in working with this client has been to help them realize significant savings in time and money by using AutoPilot. They are now able to continuously process and print the claims payments for their clients with virtually no operator intervention.
