Any printer that can accept a MICR toner or ink cartridge can be utilized as a MICR printer. There are many companies that produce MICR toner cartridges and these days a MICR toner cartridge can be found for almost any laser printer. MICR printers are necessary for printing the MICR line at the bottom of checks. The MICR line contains the check number, along with the bank account and bank routing number that are used by banks and the clearing house to process checks quickly and accurately. MICR printers provide the ability to print the entire check at once, including the MICR line, logos, signatures and payment stub, on blank safety stock. Prelude Software is printer agnostic. We do not require the use of specific MICR printers for any of our products.
