Prelude Software is a leading provider of payment management technology. Our solutions are designed to work seamlessly with whatever internal systems a client might have to simplify payment processes and to deliver greater productivity, tighter security, and significant cost savings.

A Company of Engineers

Prelude was founded by engineers, and is run by them today. As a software company, we happen to think that’s a good thing. It means that the technical expertise that gave birth to the company remains the driving force behind everything we do: crafting innovative solutions to real-world payment processing challenges.

In fact, the company was started by doing just that. Back in 1990, Prelude’s founders had a consulting firm specializing in insurance technology. One of their clients, Holyoke Mutual, asked them for help in centralizing their payment processing and converting to MICR check printing. Recognizing that no packaged software fit the bill, they developed a system from scratch. In the close-knit insurance world, word of the new system’s benefits soon spread, generating the market demand that created Prelude Software.

Holyoke Mutual was our first client and continues to use our software today. When they were acquired by Country Financial, the decision was made to implement Prelude’s technology throughout the combined entity.

Satisfying Customer Needs

The goal of every one of our designers, developers, and client support specialists is to create a fully integrated solution configured to the client’s terminology, business rules and workflows. The modular design of our software allows a client to gradually incorporate new systems or new functionality in their ongoing drive to streamline processes and reduce costs.

As needs arise and evolve over time, we’ll be here to respond. Since 1990, the development of almost all our new products and features has begun the same way—with a simple client request.

Prelude Software is located in Natick, Massachusetts in the heart of Boston’s high-tech area.
